Gelders Archief , Arnhem

Spacious and accessible

Develop a building that is suitable for a contemporary public approach. That is the question Wiegerinck tries to answer with the design of the Gelders Archive. The current four locations must be combined into one building in the relocation. This means that all archives are to have a place in one central depot and all employees will be working in one office building.

The Gelders Archive functions as a storage place for the archives of all the national organisations in the province of Gelderland and a large number of archives of private origin. The key tasks of the archive include making the material available to the public, both in the reading room and on-line. The basic assumption of the design is to interest a broader public in the archived treasures. The current buildings are not suitable for this modern public approach. New relocation can put an end to bilocation and the shortage of adequate depot space.
